Changes to COVID-19 protection measures

The Government has announced the removal of the COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic lights) from 11:59pm Monday 12 September.

Isolation changes

You and your employees will still need to self-isolate if you have COVID-19. If you or one of your employees start showing symptoms, stay home and take a rapid antigen test (RAT). If the result is positive, you must isolate for seven days from your positive result or when your first symptoms appeared – whichever came first. Household contacts will no longer need to self-isolate, although it is recommended that they test every day for five days.

Face masks

Masks are now only required at healthcare settings, including hospitals and aged care facilities and pharmacies. If you are working in the building and construction industry doing work in an operational healthcare facility, you will need to continue wearing a mask while on site.

While it is not a Government requirement, businesses may make their own mask policies to keep staff and customers safe.

Close Contact Exemption Scheme and Bubble of One

The Close Contact Exemption Scheme and Bubble of One are now closed.
